Cave of the Wind
CAVE OF THE WIND – 65 KM FROM MONTECATINI TERME
Located in the center of the Apuan Alps Natural Park, it is among the most complete caves in Europe, presenting an extraordinary variety of phenomena that are illustrated with precision and competence by expert speleological guides.
Comfortable paths allow you to admire all the wonders of the underground world in the light of the spotlights: from the living and brilliant stalactites and stalagmites, to the polychrome flows, the alabaster draperies, the crystal-encrusted lakes, the underground waterways and the bizarre shapes of erosion.
There are three itineraries: the “first” (one hour) has a flat course and is covered almost everywhere with splendid calcareous concretions; the “second” (two hours), which also includes the first, offers the charm of vast environments crossed by a small underground river; the “third” (three hours), allows the complete visit of the cave and travels comfortably through some perfectly vertical sections.
The cave is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day.
